Meet the Education Outreach Team
Jasmine PiperI think the purpose of Shine On! and what it embodies is critical for every child to learn and experience. Character strengths taught NOW vs later can be detrimental to a child’s success and mentality in life. The younger they learn and become aware of others actions, and more importantly, their own, will open their bright minds to bigger experiences in life. Every child impacts me in the best way possible and it is nothing but a pleasure working with every single child! | Kayla ConklinMy first year at Plattsburgh was in the fall of 2021 and I heard great things about the Shine On program but I was still getting used to things and was nervous to join. This fall of 2022 I decided to join and it was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. Going to Cumberland Head elementary school and showing students how to have a positive outlook on life and teaching them about social media is amazing. This program makes teaching students wonderful lessons about life fun and engagi | Hannah McLainI have only been with Shine On! for one semester, but it has been incredible! The kids that we work with are all so excited when we walk into their classroom and it is the best feeling to see their faces light up! The little time we spend in their classrooms has a big impact on them! |

Abigail JarrettWhat I’ve enjoyed most about Shine On! is being able to get real-life classroom experience, especially since I want to teach in an elementary school. | Marissa ManningI first joined because I felt like I could make a difference! I wish when I was a young girl, Shine On was at my school to give my past self the confidence I’ve seen and was able to give. I am very proud and privileged to have worked with great people to help build confidence, and I can’t wait to continue this journey. | Megan PillusShine On! has allowed me to meet some amazing people that share the same love and passion for teaching that I have! My favorite part of the week is going to see my kids and their big smiles because they know for the next half an hour they get to have fun and learn how to become the best versions of themselves! |
Tyler SmithBeing one of the first Male outreach members has been an eye opening experience. Having Shine On open up this opportunity to male participants has been the most rewarding to young boys looking for role models in their lives. | Kayla VinciI first joined Shine On! during Spring of 2022 for the conference at Camp Pok-O-MacCready. I loved working with the Shine On! Committee, and what it stands for so much that I decided to join Education Outreach this year. I teach 3rd grade at Saranac Elementary every Thursday, and I look forward to it each week! I love seeing the kids have meaningful conversations about the topics we introduce, and being excited each week to see us walk through the door, greeting us with “YAY SHINE ON IS HERE!!!” | Kristen KavanaghEducation Outreach Coordinator I shine because I am a strong, confident woman and I'm not afraid to be myself! I have a zest for life and pursue all of my passions whole-heartedly. I am very gritty and enjoy doing things that challenge me! |
MacKenzie FletcherI find honesty, creativity, and positivity to be just a few of the most important qualities for success. My dedication to helping others, my determination to make a difference, and my ability to persevere through difficult times allows me to Shine On! | Cat LutzI shine because I’m caring, smart and thoughtful of others. | Taylor EdgarI shine because of my strong desire to make meaningful connections with others and my willingness to help people in need. |
